Domestic
Violence is
VERY SERIOUS.
If you are
afraid for your own safety, or if you are afraid for the safety of yourself
and/or your children, you may be in immediate danger. For your own
peace of mind, please visit one of the following hotline websites for
information on resources in your own area.
Please don't
wait. However, for safety sake, if you visit one of these sites and
your abuser uses the same computer, be sure to erase the website addresses
before you close down your computer. You do not know how he/she may
react if they learn you are seeking outside information and/or help.
Please don't take the chance.
If you live in Southwestern
Pennsylvania, please call 1-888-299-HOPE for assistance in finding a
domestic violence program close to you. Or call the National Domestic
Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE.
If you prefer, please log onto
one of the following sites:
Please remember to think about your safety if and when you decide to
leave an abusive situation. Make a 'Personal
Safety Plan' and a 'Workplace
Safety Plan' to help you through
the difficult periods. You could also contact any domestic violence
agency for support in developing a list of your available options.
You are important - regardless of what you may have been told.
For those with children it may be more difficult. However, if you do
not take care of you, you will not be able to take care of your children
and others who may need you. Safety first!
